Some of the most common reasons that cause noisy garage doors are loose hardware, worn rollers, openers that lack anti-vibration pads, or simply parts that need lubrication. The good news is that no matter what the problem causing your garage door to make annoying sounds is, there is a simple fix for each and every one.

-
Tighten All Parts
Make sure that all the parts of your door are tightened. Use an adjustable wrench or socket wrench to tighten all the knots on the door and crack. While you need to be sure everything is now, try not to over tighten the parts to avoid compromising the system's functionality.
-
Isolate the Opener
Add some anti-vibration pads to the opener in order to silence the garage door. To do so, slide an anti-vibration pad between the ceiling and the mounting bracket, and another one under the bracket. Keep in mind that with this technique you will add approximately one inch in thickness, so test the door to see if it operates as it should.
-
Replace the Rollers
Old metal rollers are often the source of the noise because they roll up and down a metal track every time you open or close the garage door. If the rollers are worn down, or if they are simply too noisy, it's worth looking into replacing them. Nylon rollers are a good choice because they are much quieter and they also don't require regular lubrication the way metal ones do.

Replace the Hinges
The hinges of the roller stem may become worn over time and you may need to replace them to silence the door. To do so, you will need to remove the roller from the track, replace the hinge, and insert the existent or a new roller in the hinge. This is often a job that is best left to professionals as it requires multiple tools and expertise, so it's a good idea to call a local team to replace the hinges with new ones for you.
